Buhari’s anti-corruption war is in order—-Agunloye

‎A governorship aspirant in Ondo state under the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr. Olu Agunloye, has said the action of President Mohammadu Buhari-led federal government in waging war against corruption in the country was in total order. 

 

Dr. Agunloye, who addressed journalists at a public function in Akure, the Ondo state capital, added that President Buhari had no other choice than to help the country kill and roots out corruption in every sector of its economy. 

Agunloye who was a Former Minister of Power and Steel, argued that the menace had become cancer worm, thereby, eaten deep into the socio-economic system of the country, said that government at various level needed to join hands to fight corruption before it destroyed the country, 

He maintained that the fight against corruption must not be selective nor targeted at political enemies noting that anybody found culpable of stealing public funds should be investigated properly to face the law. 

He said; “The action of the present administration in waging war against corruption is in order. Buhari has no choice to kill corruption ‎before it is allowed to kill Nigeria‎“. 

The Ondo state governorship aspirant said President Buhari led federal government needs to revised the approach and method use in fighting corruption in order to avoid playing to gallery. 

According to him, while the presidency is try to retrieved the country’s looted fund from past government and public officers, it should also beam its search light on serving governors and  public holders. 

‎‎His words; “Buhari should also focus on the people who are currently in power; like the governors,  ministers, lawmakers, and board chairmen serving in various capacity of the country’s economy sphere.  

“Doing this, would help the country retrieved any stolen fund kept in secret or private accounts before they leave the office or such positions. The issue of immunity should not come in place, the president should go after serving governors to surrender money they have stolen from the confers of the state, thereby, improvising the people”. 

He however said that governance should not only be about ruling the state, but serving the people noting that anybody wanting to serve in government must be man of honour and integrity.
