APC elders seek credible candidate for Ondo governorship

A group within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congressive Congress (APC), the Elders Forum has been urged to work with the state executive committee of the party to ensure that the party presents a responsible and experienced

party member as its governorship candidate for the forthcoming governorship poll.

 

At a meeting in Iju, Akure North Local Government, Chairman of the forum, Senator Olorunnimbe Farukanmi said, “We must search for an indigene who is prepared to reposition the state by utilising its abundant resources to improve the poor economic situation and welfare of the citizenry.

 

“We must seize the rare opportunity of the forth coming governorship election to vote a God-fearing person who will not disappoint the people”.

 

He recalled that people in the state voted massively for President Muhammadu Buhari during the last year election and now have another opportunity to choose one of them as governor.

 

Farukanmi urged the citizenry in the state to vote massively for the APC candidate in the state to bring the desired change.

 

The seasoned politician who lamented on the dwindling revenues from the federation accounts urged the federal,state and local government to find alternative ways of generating funds for their developments.

 

He noted that there are some states whose governments have borrowed huge amounts of money in the past which would now be difficult to defray,urging Ondo state people to pick experienced and versatile politician who can reposition the economy of the state.

 

Over 100 members of the Elders Forum of the APC were in attendance at the meeting.
